Introductie

Na een traditionele patchwork en quilting opleiding in 1989, maakte ik al snel de overgang naar meer moderne quilts.
Sedert ik het verven van stoffen ontdekte, gebruik ik allerlei zelf geverfde katoenen stoffen, in combinatie met andere materialen, zoals plastiek, voile, niet-gewevenstoffen...enz.
Door te stempelen en eenvoudig te zeefdrukken breng ik elementen over op de stof. Zelfs bij het maken van collages waarbij ik ook papier gebruik, blijf ik trouw aan de basis principes van de quilt namelijk, 3 lagen onderling met elkaar verbonden.
De geverfde stof is meestal het uitgangspunt, de inspiratie tot het maken van een quilt. Voor het ontwerpen maak ik gebruik van de computer, maar ik pin me niet vast op het uitvoeren van een patroon, dit kan gemakkelijk veranderen gedurende het creatieve proces.

Dagelijks vertoeven tussen stoffen, draden, naaimachine, computer, verf is wat ik het liefste doe.

Introduction

After a traditional education in patchwork and quilting in 1989, I quickly made the transition to the contemporary quilts.
Since I discovered fabric dyeing, I use self-dyed cotton fabrics in combination with other materials like plastic, voile, non-woven fabric...etc. With stamping and simple silk-screening I transfer patterns to the fabric.
Even making collages and using paper, I keep the basics of a quilt: 3 layers held together with stitches.
The dyed fabric is often the starting point, the inspiration to make a quilt. I use the computer to design, but almost never follow the pattern until the end, it can easily change during the creative process.

What I like most is daily to be surrounded by fabric, threads, the sewing machine, the computer, and paint.
